2023/2024 promises to be an interesting one with future investments in Cloud Technology – particularly for on shore vs off shore of data storage. And subsequently, for how government related data (Restricted or below) will be analysed, stored and managed going forward. There is a lot of investment from international companies at present with data centres here in NZ.
The NZ Government in April 2023 announced a Cloud First policy and high level strategy. This is a welcomed announcement and is a very interesting read. See link below.
This policy has also directed officials from MBIE, DIA and Ministry of Environment to develop high level principles for adopting use of cloud technologies and to also develop sustainable ways for procurement of these technologies.
